Paige Tobin featured in Spring/Summer 2025 Special Education Events

As a leading school attorney in Massachusetts, MLM attorney and principal shareholder Paige Tobin has long been a frequent participant at trainings and conferences on legal topics affecting schools, students, and school administrators, and 2025 is shaping up to be no different.

  1. This week, Paige will be a featured speaker at a Statewide Special Education Conference in Worcester. The conference, hosted by the Massachusetts Administrators for Special Education (ASE), will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Hogan Center at the College of the Holy Cross, 1 College Street, Worcester, MA 01610. The program will run from 8:45 AM to 2:45 PM and will be immediately preceded by a registration and a coffee network period from 7:45 AM to 8:45 AM. During the program, Paige will present on current and relevant special education legal matters that affect school special education decision making across a continuum of services, including relevant special education case examples. Additional information and registration details for the Statewide Special Education Conference are available here.

  2. This will be the second event on special education in Massachusetts at which Paige has been featured in just a few weeks. Previously, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Paige was a featured participant in a Mock Trial of a BSEA Hearing hosted by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. (MCLE). Joined by a BSEA Hearing Officer and other prominent special education attorneys from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Paige helped to simulate key portions of a Bureau of Special Education Appeals (BSEA) Hearing, with a fact pattern featuring a student with disabilities and a question of whether the school district could appropriately meet the student’s needs within the district’s program. This Mock Trial provided an opportunity for viewers to observe highly experienced attorneys frame key aspects of a BSEA case, discuss strategy, assemble exhibits, and present their cases, and then get hearing officer’s perspective on what styles, techniques, and strategies are effective—along with a discussion of what “to do” and what “not to do.” A recorded webcast of the MCLE training will be streamed on June 6, 2025, and an on-demand webcast is also available. Information about how to view the webcasts is available on the MCLE website.

  3. Later this summer, Paige will be joining Nadine Ekstrom of Academic Discoveries, LLC, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to provide a workshop on New Legal Considerations Regarding Federal Shifts. This workshop will be designed to prepare special education administrators for the upcoming school year and will address shifts at the federal level, including in leadership and expectations, and the resulting uncertainty for local school districts. The workshop is scheduled from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on August 21, 2025, and will include breakfast and lunch for attendees. It is open to all school administrators and Title IX Coordinators, and will be held just off the Boston-Worcester Turnpike at 2 Park Central Drive, Suite 100, Southborough, MA. Additional details and registration information can be found on the Academic Discoveries website.
