Attorney Michelle McNulty Takes on New Role at MLM

After 39 years of distinguished service at Murphy, Lamere & Murphy, P.C., Attorney Michelle Allaire McNulty will transition from her role as a partner at MLM at the end of the year and will take on a new role with the firm as Of Counsel.

Michelle began her legal career at MLM in 1986, joining the firm as a law clerk while a student at BC Law. After graduating from law school in 1988, Michelle joined MLM as an attorney. Since then, Michelle has been a mainstay at MLM, working her way to firm ownership as a partner and eventually taking over the reins as managing partner. Through her expertise and tireless advocacy for MLM’s clients, Michelle earned a reputation as a leader in Massachusetts municipal and education law.

Michelle is the longtime Town Counsel for the Town of Whitman, and she has served as general counsel and labor and employment counsel for countless other towns and school districts during her time at MLM. Michelle has for several decades authored a chapter on school law for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. treatise on municipal law along with MLM attorneys Paige Tobin, Nancy Campany, and Matt Tobin, with contributions by Peter Sumners and Marianne Peters. Michelle is also a longtime member of the Massachusetts Council of School Attorneys (MCOSA) and Massachusetts Municipal Lawyers Association (MMLA), including a tenure as President of MCOSA in 2006.

In her new role at MLM, Michelle will continue to serve as a trusted advisor to MLM’s clients and attorneys, and to offer her expertise on municipal, education, and labor law matters, while also taking well-earned time to spend at home and with her family.

MLM is pleased to announce that as Michelle transitions to this new role, Michelle’s longtime partner at MLM, Paige Tobin, has taken over managing partner duties. MLM partners Caitlin Leach Mulrooney, Joshua Coleman, and Peter Sumners will join Paige in leading the firm’s education, municipal, and labor and employment law practices.

MLM extends its sincere gratitude to Michelle for her extraordinary service to the firm and to the residents of Massachusetts over these many years, and we congratulate her on her new role.
