MLM Announces Elevation of Attorney Marianne Peters to Shareholder

Attorney Marianne Peters has joined the shareholders at Murphy, Lamere & Murphy, becoming the newest member of MLM’s ownership team along with Managing Shareholder Paige Tobin and shareholders Caitlin Mulrooney, Josh Coleman, and Peter Sumners.

Marianne has been with MLM since 2018, joining the firm just after her graduation from Boston University School of Law., where she served as Note Editor for the Public Interest Law Journal. Prior to law school, Marianne worked as a school psychologist in a public school system, and during law school she interned with the Honorable Judge Vickie Henry of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. She has been with the firm since 2018. Marianne earned a B.S. in Psychology and Elementary/Special Education from Montana State University and an Ed.S. in School Psychology from the University of Montana.

At MLM, Marianne’s practice areas include all aspects of school law, but with a primary focus in school policy, Title IX, general and special education, student discipline, and student services. Marianne has litigated cases at the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Superior Court and District Court, as well as administrative agencies such as the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Bureau of Special Education Appeals (BSEA).

In addition to her representation of school districts, Marianne is a frequent lecturer at professional conferences, workshops, and seminars on general and special education topics throughout Massachusetts, and she is also an Adjunct Instructor at Bay Path University, where she teaches courses in special education and school law.

Marianne is a member of the Massachusetts Council of School Attorneys. Marianne is also member of the Massachusetts bar and is also licensed to practice at the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
