MLM Welcomes Attorney Brendan Brooks
Murphy, Lamere & Murphy, P.C. is pleased to announce that attorney Brendan Brooks has joined the office as an associate attorney. Brendan’s practice at MLM will focus primarily on matters involving general and special education law, student services, student discipline, Title IX, and school policy.
Brendan began his professional career as an educator, initially completing his undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree, and then earning a Master of Science degree, focused in Education, from the City College of New York. Brendan has several years’ experience teaching in both New York state and Massachusetts school systems which have given him an intimate knowledge of the special education and student discipline processes, as well as the various curricular and policy issues facing schools and their students.
After teaching for several years, Brendan decided to turn his focus to education law, and he enrolled in Suffolk University Law School. At Suffolk, Brendan had the honor of being selected to the Suffolk University Law Review, on which he served as an Articles Editor. He continued to focus on education, interning and clerking at several prominent education law firms in Massachusetts. After receiving his earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Suffolk and passing the bar, Brendan spent a year as a civil litigator, working primarily on insurance defense cases in Massachusetts and other New England states, before jumping at the chance to return to education law at MLM.
Brendan is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and at the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Council of School Attorneys.
MLM is excited to have Brendan on board, and to have his deep background in education as an asset to our office. We welcome him to the team!
