MLM Attorneys Paige Tobin and Josh Coleman Featured at Annual Massachusetts School Attorney Meeting

Murphy, Lamere & Murphy, P.C. is proud to announce that MLM managing partner Paige Tobin was elected President of the Massachusetts Council of School Attorneys (MCOSA) at the annual MCOSA meeting in December 2025. In this capacity, Paige will lead MCOSA over the next year in providing attorneys with essential resources, professional development opportunities, and a strong network of colleagues in the field of school law. Paige will also remain a member of the MCOSA Board of Directors, a role in which she has served for several years.

Paige’s election to this position carries on a proud tradition of MLM attorneys serving as leaders in the field of Massachusetts school law. Paige’s longtime partner at MLM and current Of Counsel to the firm, Michelle Allaire McNulty, previously served as President of MCOSA in 2006, and retired MLM attorney Mary Joann Reedy served as President of MCOSA in 2010.

In addition to being honored with her election as President, Paige was also tasked with providing updates to the gathered school attorneys on the recent Supreme Court decision Mahmoud v. Taylor. In Mahmoud, the Supreme Court ruled that Free Exercise Clause requires public schools to allow parents an opportunity to opt their children out of the use of particular LGBTQ-inclusive classroom materials if they conflict with the parents' religious beliefs. Predictably, this case has been a hot topic for schools and school attorneys, and one in which MLM’s attorneys have been frequently called upon to offer guidance. At the MCOSA conference, Paige and fellow school attorney Rebecca Bouchard reviewed the case, recent developments, and implications for school districts.

MLM shareholder Josh Coleman also delivered remarks at the conference, leading a panel discussion in which he was joined by attorneys Michael Maccaro and Nicholas Dominello to review updates in the ever-developing landscape of labor and employment in Massachusetts public schools.

MLM’s attorneys are proud to be active members of MCOSA and leaders in Massachusetts education law.
